About Raman Kant Munjal

Sh. Raman Kant Munjal was a great Corporate visionary, an excellent Manager and a leader who led others by example. He was a multi-faceted personality. His innate strength was relationship management and he considered people to be the prime movers in the organizational drive to excellence.

Sh. Raman Kant Munjal owned his entrepreneurial skills by managing a group company- Highway Cycles Industries Limited, Ludhiana in 1971. When the Hero Group and Honda Motor Company of Japan initiated the joint venture Hero Honda Motors Ltd., Sh. Raman Kant Munjal was assigned the responsibility to manage the affairs as its first Managing Director in 1984. He set the operating foundations of the Company and the distinction that Hero Honda enjoyed as one of the best performing and the best managed company was largely due to Mr. Raman Kant Munjal. He acted as the catalyst for the growth of the company and played a pivotal role in the development of ancillary units in the region.

He never looked at the growth and development in isolation and sincerely believed that corporate houses have a responsibility towards the society too. He was a pioneer in Corporate Social Responsibility way before it was made mandatory by the government. He was an active Rotarian, the first President of the JAYCEE (Rotary Club of Ludhiana). He worked closely with the Red Cross and organized several blood donations and eye camps under his guidance. He also initiated various projects like education for all, health care, drinking safe water and environment which later were brought under an umbrella- Raman Kant Munjal Foundation.

Mr. Munjal was a living embodiment of simplicity, humility, hardwork and dedication. His life is worth emulating as in one life he affected various lives in several ways. His mere presence brought about an aura of warmth and goodness. He was a down to earth man who never discriminated between his employees. A kind, compassionate and amicable person that he was, he made it a point to make others feel special.
