Though India is growing by leaps and bounds, we are still struggling to eradicate poverty from our society. Financial illiteracy is one of the major reasons causing poverty, is being faced in rural India. Though the government is doing various activities to make people more financially literate, people are unaware of it and cannot reap the benefits of it. To contribute to this, Raman Kant Munjal Foundation has initiated Dhancharcha- a financial literacy campaign at various locations with the support of Hero FinCorp Limited.
Aarti is a resident of Nakheda village of Kosli block in Rewari district. Ms. Krishna- Dhancharcha volunteer approached her in October 2023, during Dhancharcha- financial literacy campaign in Nakheda village. She belongs to the BPL section of the economy. She was enthusiastic to do something and earn money. Hence, she expressed her interest knowing about various scheme and reap benefit to improve her financial condition. Krishna explained her about Self Help Group concept and benefits that she can get from being member of such group. She was motivated to join in SHG but there was no existing SHG in her vicinity. Hence, Dhancharcha volunteer and she mobilized 9 more women from her village and formed SHG named Gulab Mahila Self Help Group. Further, these women have started their bank account, monthly saving and internal lending in SHG.
Currently these women are running their SHG and have a financial stability compared to previous condition. These women are able to borrow money from their SHG and complete their work on time as well as they have some money saved with them which they can use when its required. Recently, they have availed Rs. 10,000/- as a revolving fund for SHG. Further, these women have got enrolled in Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. These women are glad to get such knowledge about opportunity and benefits. Apart from the financial advantage, these women are able to gather and socialize for better purpose and growth in the village.

Through this, 10 families will have better saving compared to their past condition. Raman Kant Munjal Foundation feels proud to uplift such women’s life with financial stability.
