Providing Easy Access to Clean Drinking Water
Life for the people in the Dhar area of Madhya Pradesh was not easy. The underground water in the region is contaminated with fluoride, making it unfit for drinking. Due to this, the women had to walk many kilometres to fetch clean water. Things changed for the better after the Raman Munjal Foundation installed a water ATM here to provide safe and clean drinking water to the locals.
The water ATM provides 5 litres of water for ₹1. In addition, the water ATMs are running on solar energy, which means that they are eco-friendly too. This initiative was implemented in Rajasthan (Devgarh, Gonga and Pratapgarh), Madhya Pradesh (Khiledi, Alote and Indrawal) and Karnataka (Anantpur).
